Noro Closeout Yarns

Noro Iro

Iro incorporates a twisted ply interspersing slubs of light and dark for color and textural interest. Knitters will find it reminiscent of Kochoran in both weight and texture, but with a subtle difference in smoothness. Made in Japan.

One hank was more than enough for a stockinette hat. This yarn is definitely what I call rustic.......if you expect smooth and "polished" this is not for you. I know knots are an issue at times with Noro, but I only found one. As I said, great for a one-of-a-kind hat. (This color is the blue/pink/purple?) I also bought Kogarashi which is listed as "bulky", but seems a lot thinner than the Iro.

I wanted to use these yarns for hats to sell in our gallery or to give as gifts. No way! Coarse, stiff, pulls apart with little effort, too many knots, debris, etc. Given the rave reviews, I was surprised and disappointed. There are so many other beautiful yarns with great textures and colorways. I'll spend my yarn money elsewhere.

            Comments about Noro Iro:

I used this yarn to knit shoulder sling purses and yarn baskets to help my knitting. It knits up well, is easy to keep stitches even, and feels good in my hands, soft and supple. Some times it is knotted poorly, but it works out okay, not enough to worry about.

            Service and delivery comments:
