I am on my third project using the taiyo sock yarn and I am pleased with the yarn's performance. The texture of the FO is soft and it drapes really well. As with all Noro yarns, it has imperfections, but I love the quirkiness. The colors are amazing and it knits up fairly quickly as you watch the colors change. I would recommend adding reinforcing thread at heels if you are doing socks that will get a lot of use

This was the most difficult yarn to crochet I have ever used. It kinked up immediately and constantly. I tried (1) working directly from the ball and (2) winding it into a cake using a yarn winder, but neither was even remotely satisfactory. Quality control is very suspect. The yarn goes from thread thin to bulky, undyed roving in a matter of yards. Even though I love the colors, I won't buy this again.

    Comments about Noro Taiyo Sock:

First of all, the volume of yarn on this ball is HUGE. One ball will make a pair of socks or more! I used it to make a tunic and loved working with it. It's art yarn so it has lots of irregularities and character which make the finished garment look very creative and beautiful. The colors are gorgeous. The yarn is easy to work with. I found it helpful to rewind it to get the inner knots out of it (the texture of the yarn tends to twist) and then to use it in a yarn bowl to promote smooth unwinding. I love this yarn!

    Comments about Noro Taiyo Sock:

I love this yarn but it's thick and thin nature can be exaggerated for a lace weight, there are parts where you are knitting with a scant hair and have to make the decision to knit through or cut the segment out. The final effect is amazing but I would not recommend it for a garment that took any stress or needed to be washed frequently.

    Comments about Noro Taiyo Sock:

I would not recommend this for socks as the thickness of the yarn varies, but I would recommend it for garments. I am using this for a summer top that a pattern in a recent crochet magazine used it for and it is working up beautiful.

    Comments about Noro Taiyo Sock:

The yarn is thick and thin, and very twisty, but it has a really interesting texture. The striping is gradual and really pretty, and each skein is really unique. You have to knit a bit gently to keep from breaking the yarn, but I really like it for socks. Some people hate the texture, but I love it.

          Comments about Noro Taiyo Sock:

One of my first projects was a scarf knit from Noro Garden Silk Light-it was like knitting from a rainbow-it still feels like that seven years later. And I still wear that scarf. The handspun texture also is a big draw for me-it makes every project look and feel unique. The Windward scarf made from Taiyo is warm, light and the unusual construction is a great showcase for the color play of this yarn.
