I make crocheted socks with the tiniest possible hook, B or smaller with yarn spun at 425-450 meters per 100 grams, tension on the snug side, and the closest possible stitch. I am deeply biased in favor of this kind of yarn for socks, based on my sock needs in a part of the US that's very wet and cool (PNW rainforest), and an active outdoor life. Soft/fluffy artisan yarns don't cut it for the sort of wear and tear we put socks through, and I don't want to be darning every time I wear a pair. I think what I love best about Online Supersocke in general is the boldness, subtlety, and combination of colors into patterning. Making plain socks can get a bit boring at times. So it's fun to watch the patterns emerge. The Flower line of colors is a bit...1960s for my taste (I prefer more classic/woodsy tones, or punky ones). But the 1337 and 1340 live very happily inside my hiking boots...and draw positive comments when I wear them with hiking sandals. Some people find Supersocke 100 splitty. I've worked around that by modifying my "hook poke" very slightly, rotating the head of the hook just a wee bit. Knitting friends tell me this yarn machine washes and dries beautifully. I find it machine washes well, but don't machine dry any socks, since it reduces their life.
