Love the softness and drape of this yarn. Colours were true. It was a pleasure to knit. I used it to make a lightweight cardigan. Blocked nicely. Sadly, it started pilling right away. A bit disappointed.

Suggest should knit at a much tighter gauge to reduce pilling, but perhaps won't drape as nice?

        Comments about Valley Yarns Charlemont:

This yarn is perfect for next-to-skin items, as it is soft, silky and not at all scratchy. It can split a little, so care should be taken while knitting to catch all of the plies. It should be washed carefully, cold gentle machine cycle is fine, and dried flat (no dryers). It would make perfect heirloom gifts; it shows cable patterns beautifully and would work just as well for lace.

          Comments about Valley Yarns Charlemont:

I purchased this yarn to make socks and so far I have used it to make 3 pair.

This yarn makes a lovely, durable sock. Very soft to the touch with the added silk and polyamide for strength.

When I first started working with it I found that it split easier than some of the yarns I had used previously, especially because I was using extra pointy needles to create fancy stitches and cables and I was trying to work a fairly dense fabric for socks. But after a time I improved my technique and splitting is rarely an issue for me now.

This is a very affordable yarn for the type of yarn and I love this about it as well.

Anyway, it is a favored yarn for me to use on socks and gloves. I think it would make lovely scarves and shawls because of the sheen but so far I've only used the yarn on smaller items.

I am only now learning to bead and knit lace. The Charlemont was a good yarn to learn with, since it is affordable and still easy to handle. And I think the results were very good.

                Comments about Valley Yarns Charlemont:

I am currently using this yarn to knit up a shawl. When searching for a yarn, I wanted something that was going to be super soft, but not fuzzy, and will show the YO"s and decreases nicely. The nice thing about this yarn is the yardage/price as well as the ability to use various size needles. So far I haven't had many problem with it. However, like most yarns, the individual strands do separate sometimes so just be aware of that. The strands also snag easily but again, this happens with a lot of yarns. For an experienced knitter, this yarn is great! I would not use this yarn as a beginner.

Purchased for the price and color (on sale and "natural") to edge afghan motifs. A bit splitty for use in crochet, I have to slow down to correct split stitches. But for the value and the perfect color for my "scrap" project, it's great. I'd love to knit a sweater or shawl from this yarn, I think those are the best uses.
