Not a Good Warp Yarn
The colors and finished shawl and scarf were gorgeous, but a lot of blood, sweat and tears with snapping warps, especially the gray.

Comments about Valley Yarns 2/14 Alpaca Silk:
I have purchased three different colors of this product and knit mitts and socks with it. It knits at 8-10 st/in. The resulting articles were stretchy, light, and had a lovely hand.
I also mixed each color with a strand of Debbie Bliss Angel silk/mohair blend creating a gorgeous light weight circular capelet and a circular wimple using size 6 needles. The resulting articles were light, very warm, and wonderful to touch with a soft halo. This yarn is a bargain find for those who like to mix yarns.

That one cone wasn't enough for the Forest Path Stole. The stole is finished and blocked. It came out beautiful.

Comments about Valley Yarns 2/14 Alpaca Silk:
This is a nice yarn. It does shed but that was expected with alpaca. I did have an issue with it breaking in my knitting machine, but after I paired it with an other fine, thin yarn, then I didn't have any breakage issues. I was using it on a KnitKing Bulky machine and a tuck stitch so that also might have contributed to the breakage problem.

Comments about Valley Yarns 2/14 Alpaca Silk:
I was looking for a special yarn to weave scarves and decided to give this a try. Very well priced for a nice yarn, but I feel it should come with some warnings. I put on an 11 yard warp to make 4 scarves and it was a bear to beam, with knot-like pills forming on adjacent warp ends. I broke 4 warp ends out of 400, so it was workable, extremely tedious, so be forewarned. I wondered if it was a problem with the black color, but another poster mentions problems with gray, so perhaps it is just that lovely halo deciding to act devilish for weavers.
sett at 20 with an undulating twill, it's a nice scarf (finished one and cut it off, hand washed in shampoo, air dried) but I think the Jaegger spun silk/wool blend is an overall nicer yarn, easier to work with, and softer on the neck.
