Valley Yarns
Valley Yarns Huntington
Valley Yarns Huntington is a beautiful solid color sock yarn. It is great for colorwork and patterns with more complex stitch work. Valley Yarns Huntington is extremely soft, machine washable and would also make fantastic baby projects. You will probably need two skeins for most sock patterns. Made in Peru.

This yarn is a little softer than many of the other machine washable wool blend sock yarns that I have used. The yarn is comfortable to wear and I found it to be easy to knit with. I also found that it has not shrunk after washing (not always the case with sock yarns that are labelled "machine washable."

Very disappointed so far. I couldn't do the basic cable pattern I'd purchased the yarn with intentions of knitting. Then, even though I hold my yarn very loosely, a ply of the yarn broke twice before I'd turned the first heel.
I'd already wound the yarn so can't return it but won't buy more until the reviews indicate these issues have been fixed. Too bad as I've liked the other Valley yarns I've used so far.

Comments about Valley Yarns Huntington:
I was asked to make my first pair of socks for a friend. Though I messed around with a cheap ball of sock yarn for a couple of days before starting this venture, I had no idea what I was doing. The yarn held together through a couple of frogs but feels wonderful and has inspired me to make myself a pair!

Comments about Valley Yarns Huntington:
I like this yarn for the wide color selection and the yardage for the price, but I find it to be incredibly splitty and therefore difficult to knit with. I've tried knitting it whilst giving it my full attention & changing needle types and materials, but the splitting remains. Aside from the splitting, I find this yarn to be an overall good purchase.

Comments about Valley Yarns Huntington:
I bought this yarn with the intent of using the Cromwell Blanket Pattern (found on Ravelry) to knit up a small version for a baby blanket for a former co-worker. I underestimated the original yardage as the yarn weight is different than the pattern suggests; however, this is easily rectified with purchasing more. It is soft, easy on the hands, and I thoroughly enjoy how vibrant the colors are together (Mauve and Natural). I would definitely recommend this yarn for people looking to knit for warm weather babies as this present is going to a friend in Florida and it is thin enough that it won't be too heavy on the baby.
Super fast shipping, too! (I ordered during the April anniversary sale and got my purchase within a week).
I bought another color (Black) to eventually start working on a skirt for myself and I look forward to putting this on the needles!
The only con that I see is that it takes too long to knit up, but considering it is a lighter weight that is completely acceptable. My hands are just antsy for all the other WIPs and the ever-growing yarn stash.

Comments about Valley Yarns Huntington:
I purchased this yarn to make a set of beaded wrist warmers. However, when placing the beads on the yarn it became a tangled mess. It began to unravel and was a huge fight to use.
I do not recommend this yarn for beadwork.

Comments about Valley Yarns Huntington:
Bought this yarn specifically for 5 college sock pattern. While it gives very nice stitch definition to the multiple patterns this yarn is not at all soft & has very little give or spring to it. Am not enjoying working with it at all. Perhaps I'm spoiled by the many alpaca blends I've been using. I would' t recommend it to anyone who has used Alpaca Sox, Fiesta Ballet (with a reinforcing thread) Misti Alpaca or even the wonderful Cascade Heritages in merino blends.
Have used many other Valley Yarns with great satisfaction.

Comments about Valley Yarns Huntington:
Very nice stitch definition, and the socks I knit were warm without being thick or sweaty. I was able to wear the socks with a pair of ballet flats, but they kept my feet comfortably warm during a recent cold snap.
Slides easily on double point steel needles, I ended up using point protectors to prevent stitch dropping. You might want to consider using bamboo needles instead. Do not overtension the yarn while knitting as it is easy to split the yarn while trying to insert the needle into a stitch. Knit in a relaxed manner, and let the yarn glide through your fingers without distorting its diameter; adjust needle size to get correct gauge rather than tightening tension.
The range of colors is nice, and the colors are well saturated and do not run. With more vividly colored slacks being in fashion now, I bought a few different colors to coordinate with some items in my wardrobe, as it is difficult to find ready-made dressier socks to coordinate with slacks. The socks are machine washable on gentle cycle and cool water, but must be laid flat to dry. Nevertheless, they dry quickly (overnight.) I would not suggest this yarn for a first-time sock knitter, use something a little more forgiving, but if you have some experience, you will be delighted with the high stitch definition that this yarn yields.
This yarn in the hands of a fairly experienced knitter will work up into elegant socks suitable for gift giving or dress wear. I am considering getting a few more skeins and making a complex stitch shrug for wearing over tank tops and camis.
