Valley Yarns Northampton
Even though we love all of our Valley Yarns, Northampton has become a fast favorite! We sourced the softest wool we could find and dyed it in a beautiful collection of solid colors and heathered shades. It is a dream to felt and soft enough for cozy garments. Valley Yarns Northampton also has a whopping 247 yards per skein. It is beautiful and economical. Made in Peru.

Comments about Valley Yarns Northampton:
Wanted the yarn for sweaters and was not disappointed. Beautiful rich color, could have been a bit more "heathery", but still very nice. Softer than other worsted wool yarns, but not as thick - could be bit thicker for sweaters to knit up a bit faster. Found US 7 to look better than 8. Love the yardage per skein - not skimpy! Excellent price, too. Would buy this yarn again.

Comments about Valley Yarns Northampton:
Using this to knit a cabled cardigan. So far is knitting up quickly. The yarn is much softer than I expected and has really nice stitch definition. It does appear to stretch a bit which is something to take into account with regards to gauge. Since it's still in process I can't comment on the durability or how it holds up, but so far so good!

Stretchy, so I used about 10 percent more than the pattern specified, but lovely and soft, fluffed up beautifully in fulling process.

Comments about Valley Yarns Northampton:
I have used Northampton to knit Christmas stockings for four generations of family members, 16 stockings thus far. I selected a color scheme for each sub-family, based on each couple's favorite colors. Lizard green is a color in most of them, and it is the only color that was discontinued as the most recent new baby was added. That was a major disappointment, but other colors used seem to continue to be available. The yarn is evenly twisted, with no thick-and-thin areas and thus far no knots. I use size 7 needles and line the stockings with coordinating cotton holiday prints, but if they were unlined I would use size 5 or 6 needles to maintain shape when filled. Stockings are large and hold many gifts, and each is intended to last for many years.

Comments about Valley Yarns Northampton:
I knit three pair of "Sebastian" gloves using this yarn for Christmas gifts, then another pair for another friend and now am starting on a pair for me. I think I'm hooked! The colors are lovely and it's so much fun to mix them up on these gloves that use 3 or 4 different colors. No chance of getting bored with these gloves. I haven't washed them yet, but think they will be O.K. if washed properly. I think this is truly an all purpose yarn for many projects.
