One of my favorite yarns of all time. The yarn strikes a wonderful balance between being soft (definitely next-to-skin soft for me and most folks that are not wool-phobes) and wearing incredibly well. I made a cute striped cardigan with this yarn, and have worn it regularly (several times a week, at least) for over a year. There is nary a pill in sight, which is amazing to me. And, remembering back to when I was knitting with it, the yarn is wonderfully easy and pleasant to work with. Nice and smooth through the fingers with just a touch of halo from the alpaca fibers. I am extremely pleased with the yarn, both for the soothing knitting experience and the excellent finished product. Now... if only they would come out with more colors. Please?

I knitted a scarf for my boyfriend with this yarn. I've never purchased this yarn before, so based on other reviews, I expected the yarn to be very soft. Alpaca is typically very soft, warm yarn. However, it was not all that soft, pretty scratchy actually. And in one of the skeins, there were 5 felted joins!! I guess I need to remember, you get what you pay for.

Comments about Valley Yarns Stockbridge:
I ordered some Stockbridge to use for colorwork in a sweater. It's wonderfully soft, easy to knit with and the colors are pretty. I would definitely purchase this again to make a sweater. This is a hand wash yarn though, so just beware of that.
Service and delivery comments:
Delivery was prompt, the yarn arrived in excellent condition. I sent an email inquiring about another colorway currently not available, and was responded to quickly and politely with the expected due date. Thank you!

I made a slouch hat and fingerless gloves, so popular now, for my daughter. She LOVED them. And I loved working with this yarn.

Comments about Valley Yarns Stockbridge:
Hight quality, does not break easily. Sheds like most alpaca yarns. Beautiful dying the color is consistent throughout. If it was softer, I would give it a 5 star rating. Really good yarn at a very reasonable price. I like the alpaca-wool blend for the warmth it gives for hats, gloves and mittens and scarfs.

Service and delivery comments:
This is the second time I've had trouble with a Peruvian yarn. The color shown and described was different from the yarn that arrived. Customer service took it back and exchanged it for me.

Comments about Valley Yarns Stockbridge:
I am using this yarn for a pullover with diamonds and cables. It softens nicely after immersion in cold water. Good selection of colors. Stone blue looks more impressive knitted up than in raw form.

I thought this would be softer due to the alpaca content. I used another yarn for this project.

Comments about Valley Yarns Stockbridge:
I bought the camel. Most of the skeins contain a few bits of black fiber that need to be picked out-- just a few per skein, but it is annoying and clearly not intended to be part of the strand. I've also had to rip back a few times and find the yarn gets a bit splitty when re-knitting. I'm almost done knitting a sweater with this and so far I love the results despite these small issues.

Comments about Valley Yarns Stockbridge:
I'm knitting a heavily cabled Aran pullover with this yarn. The color is a beautiful heathered gray, it is soft but sturdy, easy to knit with, doesn't twist or shed, makes my stitches look even and the knitted product is gorgeous. I'm going to use this yarn again and again.

Comments about Valley Yarns Stockbridge:
I have been a knitter for most of my life and I enjoy quality wool to knit with. I made 2 double-knit, reversible long scarves for my granddaughter and my daughter who live in Amarillo where it snows and the temperatures get cold for awhile in the winter. This wool is soft near their bare skin necks - perfect for the projects. The colors are vibrant. I enjoyed working with this yarn and will buy more.
