I made an oversized jacket with this and it worked great but because the yarn is so bulky and nobby, it wouldn't go through any kind of needle so a crochet hook is essential. it does make for a bulkier seam and you might think about doing external seams (decorative) in a solid color. Or use a pattern where it's all done in one piece. I used a softer non-wool yarn for the large collar on this jacket...if you do this, make sure the gauge is the same or if it's a thinner yarn, then double it.

Color finally trumped texture

Shockingly coarse in comparison to the yarns I've been working with recently, but the Noro colors finally convinced me that it was worth it. Still not sure what the best use would be. ...Read complete review

Shockingly coarse in comparison to the yarns I've been working with recently, but the Noro colors finally convinced me that it was worth it. Still not sure what the best use would be. Maybe a bag? The thick/thin in combination with the coarse texture makes the yarn practically felt itself as soon as you knit with it.

              Comments about Noro Wadaiko:

I wanted a bulky yarn to knit mukluk slippers and loved the colors in Wadaiko. To approximate the pattern guage I used size seven needles and it was difficult to knit this yarn on that size. Also impossible to frog, as the nubs are so large they will not release themselves. The finished slippers are just ok, and not as soft on my skin as I would wish. I am knitting a garter stitch scarf on size 15 needles with the leftover yarn and it is much easier to knit but still very hard and sort of scratchy against skin, probably not going to be wearable except under a collar. I suspect this yarn would felt nicely.

                Comments about Noro Wadaiko:

I was looking for bulky boucle to make "Chanel " - style jacket but full length as a cardigan and Wadaiko is exactly what I was looking for. The yarn looks great crocheted and knitted on my swatches, as a texture and color wise. It is rough but still pretty and combined with sleek and shiny silk can have a stunning look. I still haven't started this project, but if this is possible I would add a picture later when it's done. I would recommend this yarn to everyone who is looking for very warm, functional and stylish garment
