I bought this to make a chemo cap for someone who cannot wear animal fibers. The price was quite reasonable. I was surprised to find the strand feeling warm across my hand as I knit it in a cold house, and can only guess that's an effect from the pearls needing to be warm enough in the ocean. (Did they use the shavings from rounding out pearls for jewelry? I'd love to know how this is made.) It is lustrous, quite bright, drapingly soft, and the yarn alone shows off the project well.

It is made of many very fine strands, with the edge of the yarn rolled over nicely; I had no splitting doing stockinette or ribbing. When I tried to start up the intended lace pattern above the brim, though, under pressure of Christmas rush in December, I started having problems with splitting, and although the yarn was fairly easily pulled back into shape, I wanted the knitting to look perfect, no snags anywhere. I ripped it back and knitted the cap plain.

It is not just beautiful, it is elegant; it is shimmery and, most importantly, soft. I am very pleased and look forward to making another cap out of it for the recipient.
