I needed this order to complete a sweater vest in the same yarn, but in a contrast color. Nice to work with.

Comments about Classic Elite Yarns Moorland:

I've made 2 hats with this yarn and they held up beautifully after a lot of wear. Yarn is somewhat slipery to knit with (consider using wooden needles), has a nice halo, and evenly spun. Moorland looks good in stranded colorwork when combined with less fuzzy yarn. I do not recollect having any knots in my skiens. I plan to use it for sweater.

Comments about Classic Elite Yarns Moorland:

The yarn is easy to work with, and for a plain sweater has enough interest to make an attractive sweater. I would have made a more interesting sweater but the recipient wants plain. The stitch definition is very good and the yardage is great.

This is a lovely yarn, the only negative is the color was not as rich as I had seen in both the print catalog from CEY and also online. It is much more soft and not as deep in color or sheen.

Comments about Classic Elite Yarns Moorland:

I got this yarn in a monthly scarf kit that uses only Classic Elite yarns. I was amazed at how soft this yarn is, and my only wish is that it had more yardage. It makes a scarf about 36" long, so I'm buying more to make a longer scarf as a gift.

It's extremely soft, I'm sure it would show great stitch definition, although the pattern that came with it was for a drop-stitch scarf which didn't show off that quality. I would love to make a shawl with this yarn, and at this price could afford to make a nice large one, or make a lapghan from it.

It would make a lovely baby blanket, however it is not machine washable, so I would hesitate to make anything for a baby or small child for that reason, although it would make wonderful, warm sweaters, hats and other nice baby or child items. As a Grandmother, I would easily make items from this for a new baby and do the washing myself! I believe this could probably be machine washed on a gentle cycle, with a good wool-wash that needed no rinsing, skip the spin cycle, take it out, squeeze out excess moisture, block and let air dry.

My only 'cons' would be that it is not machine washable, since I would like to make items for donation, but doubt it would be cleaned properly, I wish there were more yardage, but considering the price, it's still a bargain, and because of the make-up, it could also snag easily.

It's made to be treated like an expensive yarn, and looks like one! Yet, the price makes it affordable enough to make great items, even socks and not worry about breaking the bank. I am going to get some to make nice, thick socks as a gift. These would also make wonderful slippers especially for someone in the hospital where it's always cold! Having been in the hospital more times than I want to count, I know that warm socks are a wonderful luxury, especially ones made from such soft yarn as the Moorman. With a good ribbing at the top to keep them on, they would make wonderful bed socks to keep those cold feet warm at night and during procedures where you are in rooms that are sub-zero! Having warm feet, encased in soft, comfy yarn would make even the most unpleasant procedure a bit more tolerable.

Matching slippers, shawl and lapghan would make a wonderful gift for a friend or family member in a hospital or rest home. Keeping a set or two around for those inevitable times would be a great idea and this price makes it possible. The colors are lovely, yet muted with the nice tweed effect. All in all, a lovely yarn at a great price. And even though I wanted more yardage, a little DOES go a long way. It does seem heavier than a DK weight. I thought it was a worsted weight, but the halo probably caught me off guard! It's light, but very warm. This yarn makes me think of lovely cowls, too. Good, all-around yarn! Great for everything, although it does not felt, which is a good thing if you are going to try machine washing on gentle with no spin. Love it!

Comments about Classic Elite Yarns Moorland:

I bought this yarn at the closeout price. I definitely wouldn't have purchased it at the full price of [$] per skein. But for [$] a skein and 147 yards this is really good deal. Its much softer than a basic wool yarn like cascade 220 and looks and feels more expensive. I have made some simple hats from it as well as a cable-knit sweater. It shows detail well while still being very soft and having a nice halo.
