Great Adirondack Bamboo Cotton

Another gorgeous yarn from Great Adirondack! Bamboo Cotton is a luxuriously soft blend in amazing colors. The slight sheen that the bamboo provides makes Great Adirondack's color combinations really pop. If you're looking for a fun, colorful, comfortable yarn, Bamboo Cotton is a fantastic choice.

Comments about Great Adirondack Bamboo Cotton:

Love the colorways of this yarn. Purchased enough to make a pullover. It knits up beautifully & has a very soft hand BUT...it sheds terribly!! My black wool jacket turned charcoal grey after wearring this sweater. Just awful!! Yarn is way too pricey for this. Never again.!!

    Nice and soft

Comments about Great Adirondack Bamboo Cotton:

The yarn is really nice and soft. It does not split and hold the stitches very well. I used 4.5mm needle to make a scarf using this yarn. There is no breakage. And, the colour of yarn is watercolour. There is a slight shedding of the yarn, probably contributed by the bamboo content. But, it is not excessively and manageable. I have not washed it yet and hence can't comment on the colourfastness of the yarn.

    colors ran together

Comments about Great Adirondack Bamboo Cotton:

I bought Stormcloud to make a summer t-shirt. I liked the way the colors were separate. When I blocked it the colors ran and now i have a t-shirt with the colors faded together. Not what I planned on.

    Frustration

    By Anonymous

Comments about Great Adirondack Bamboo Cotton:

This is the same reviewer AGAIN! I've spent almost $160 in yarn to make this beautiful long hooded cardigan, spent hours on it and then noticed a hole in the top third section. This makes the 5th or 6th break in the yarn so far. It only seems to happen in the white sections and I'm guessing that bleaching of the fiber was a factor. Not sure. I'm annoyed for obvious reasons and didn't send the yarn back because I've invested too much time into this piece. Also, it is still beautiful looking so I want to make it work.

    Uh oh

Comments about Great Adirondack Bamboo Cotton:

I'm the same reviewer. I still love the yarn, but as I worked on my piece I had the yarn randomly break apart twice. I'm not sure why it happened, but it makes me nervous that I might get a hole in the sweater easily.

    beautifully surprising

Comments about Great Adirondack Bamboo Cotton:

I ordered "cholla" and I was surprised that it was a faded version of what the picture describes - granted every computer monitor is different. It is still beautiful, however. Also, I wasn't sure how the color transition would translate once knitted - picture the skein untwisted so it is still in a circle . . . the dye appears to have been dropped on different segments of the circle. This being said, you almost get a striped pattern, but it's a little more free form. I was expecting my sweater to have a green top that would fade into white. So that was a surprise too. I nice one, just different. The yarn itself is amazing - doesn't split so you can knit quickly. The cotton gives the bamboo body while the bamboo gives the cotton sheen and drape. It says to use #9 needles, but I chose 7 and it makes a nice refined knit, but as a result I had to order more yarn. I hope this helps! Oh - the end product looks very expensive and one of a kind. : )
