This yarn is positively my favourite ever. Like any vegetable fiber yarn, it does not have a lot of give, so people can find it hard on the hands. But I think it rewards patience. I have worked knitted lace, crocheted lace and stockinette/slip stitch colour work in this yarn, always with excellent results. It comes out so very soft to wear, and yet with an unmatchable lustre from the silk. Also, this yarn cooperates wonderfully with the Russian join method of joining in yarn which means fewer ends for me to deal with at the end of a project!

I bought this yarn for a sweater that called for Summer Tweed. I ordered it sight unseen depending on the Rowan name for quality. I spent more time removing trash woven in than I did knitting the sweater. At times the debris was so woven in I couldn't remove it without breaking the yarn. The trash is so sharp I don't know if I will be able to wear it next to my skin. That is why I made this sweater out of cotton. I will never use it again and plan on telling my friends about the poor quality.

Comments about Rowan Summer Tweed:
I am going to return this yarn, it is a lovely color, but I knit another sweater last summer from very similar yarn and it is too loose and shapeless for me. This yarn is listed as worsted, but is more a DK weight. Not for me. On the up side, thanks WEBS for the continued great service and lovely website. It entices me to order more and more, then I have to knit like crazy to keep up!

Comments about Rowan Summer Tweed:
Beautiful colourways.. the photos never due this yarn justice. This yarn knits up into sweaters that warm you when cold, but you can wear in really warm weather, as only silk will do. Highly textured, with a light, dry handle, it's rough, like homespun, and best suited to plain, quick knits. The yarn speaks for itself, and doesn't require embellishment.

Comments about Rowan Summer Tweed:
The yarn creates a fabric that is light weight and comfortable to wear. It does not stretch out. But the same qualities that make it an excellent choice for a summer sweater make it more difficult to knit. The yarn is nubby which slowed me down and made my hands ache.

Comments about Rowan Summer Tweed:
I bought this yarn in sienna and rush. The sweaters turned out beautifully. This yarn is perfect done in reverse stocking knit. Both sweaters looked very expensive and I have gotten a ton of comments. I washed them in the machine, cool, and dried on perm press. They came out fine. The only draw back is that the yarn stretches. Be prepared to put elastic in ribbing.

Comments about Rowan Summer Tweed:
I have a daughter that cannot wear wool of any kind, so I am always on the lookout for a good substitute. Summer Tweed has the perfect country tweed look to give the knitted items the personality I was looking for. This is my second time to use Summer Tweed and I have loved both.
My first experience was when Summer Tweed was in hanks and I was anxious to see if it had changed. It still does have the debris some complain about, but I don't mind removing bits here and there. It seems worth it to get the beautiful tweed I love so much. The yarn still seems pretty much the same. I am using the Russian join someone mentioned and it is working perfectly! Love that I won't have all those ends to try to blend in later.
Another thing I wanted to mention was that the yarn wears very well. My first experience with Summer Tweed was probably in 2009, and I ended up frogging a finished sweater because I did not like how it looked on me. I made a start on something else I soon frogged, but the third time was the charm. The yarn had started out very stiff but by the third time it was wonderfully soft, but still looked great. I was so happy to have it hold up so well after so much work and rework. The yarn I purchased in 2012 in a skein is softer to begin with, more like what the 2009 yarn became after use. But I believe it will hold up as well.

Comments about Rowan Summer Tweed:
I had very high hopes for this product, I wanted a high silk content for summer but like the other reviewers said, the debris in this yarn is too annoying to compensate for the positives. I will not buy this yarn again, I would not recommend it for any use.
