    Beautiful for Lacework

This product was awesome for my most recent lacework scarf. I'm buying a second color for a lacework sweater.

I wove a large blanket with this yarn around December of 2009. It is not an overly strong yarn as a warp, I had a lot of breakage on the selvages while weaving, but I kind of expected that. At first the finished product was great, lovely drape, sheen, and softness. As the blanket has been used, however, the yarn has pilled like no other. I'm not talking normal pilling for wool either, these babies are giant. There are fuzzies the size of my pinky nail over the entire surface. I would not suggest this yarn for weaving.

Comments about Valley Yarns 2/10 Merino Tencel (Colrain Lace):

Definitely a more drapy than bouncy yarn, as you'd expect from the Tencel. I made a sweater from it, and it's light and airy. Easy to snag, if you're not careful. Slight halo once it's washed.

Comments about Valley Yarns 2/10 Merino Tencel (Colrain Lace):

I am making a triangular Estonian lace shawl with this yarn. It is performing to expectations. I have not encountered any issues with knots. Be advised that it unravels very quickly if a stitch is dropped, and it splits easily. Interestingly enough, though, the fabric, once knitted, does not snag easily. It has a nice drape and good weight to it--not too heavy, not too gossamer. The yardage is incredible, and I will be looking for additional projects to use up the entire cone. I would use it again.

    Service and delivery comments:

Delivery was prompt for an in-stock item, and the yarn arrived in good condition.

As a weaver I have used this as both warp and weft as well as mixed in with other yarns with no issues. To the poster who thought their weaving came out stiff, try hand-washing in warm water and ironing on low heat(rayon setting) when dry.( I use a pressing cloth.) Tencel needs heat to become supple. Webs how about expanding the colour choices!

Comments about Valley Yarns 2/10 Merino Tencel (Colrain Lace):

I really like the yarn. I bought it originally for a sweater (strands doubled up) but I started a lace scarf instead. It'll definitely have to be blocked, but has a nice stretch to it. The only con is that it's not as soft as I thought it would be but it's not by any means scratchy or coarse. The yarn will be great for lightweight clothes and accessories.

I have a very special shawl I am making, crocheted. It has a picture on it. The technique is tapestry crochet. I need a fine yarn so the final project will be shawl-sized; a worsted yarn would make the project king-blanket sized. This yarn crochets easily and blooms just enough to avoid color peek-through from the yarn that's being hidden. I love this yarn! Soft, a hint of shine. A joy to use.
