SMC Select Rosas
Small, brightly colored tufts of polyamide poke out from the cotton yarn and resemble roses in this great yarn. Rosas is perfect for accessories, but also interesting for garments. Made in Italy.
Note: Gedifra is changing to SMC Select. Some colors will have SMC Select labels and some will have Gedifra labels during this transition period.

Comments about SMC Select Rosas:
Great for a sleeveless vest, scarf, tie, purse or pillow with a lining. It is a very sweet yarn, could also be a child sweater in the right color, or a bootie. The little flowers detail on the yarn makes it very special and interesting. It is in fact very English, very vintage, intereting.

Made a scarf-looks very expensive! If you love something different-this is it! Finished pattern looks like little flower buds. Did mine in red-really pretty touches.

I have nom idea how i will use this yarn.... yet. But it is so beautiful with its little rose -like nubs that I know it will become a garment of great beauty that I will make with love and wear with pride.
A beautiful yarn always makes a beautiful object.

Comments about SMC Select Rosas:
I am knitting a drop stitch and garter stitch summer top for my niece.
ON THE GOOD SIDE: The "flower" embellishments show beautifully against garter stitch, and decorate the drop stitch rather like a flowering vine would adorn a trellis. The yarn is very pretty without looking oversweet, and comes in a variety of colours. This yarn, especially in the older colours, would be lovely for gift wrap, hat embellishment, party or shower favours or decoration, maypole ribbon, leads for well-trained dogs, cushion tassels or decoration, shawls or wraps, openwork or loose-fitting tops for women and girls, and, if tightly knit or crocheted, totes, purses, and doll clothes. The I-cord/chainette construction means that, to finish off a yarn end neatly, you could either knot it, or, after cutting across an end, tease out the chainette loops, and then with thread or floss matching base colour or flower colour, weave or sew them together to prevent unravelling. Lovely! Another plus: The tubular chainette construction means that, although the yarn is 55% poly and 45% cotton, it lies lightly on the body and feels more airy and comfortable than yarns of the same fibre mix but of more conventional construction.
ON THE NOT SO GOOD SIDE: 1. From the sample photos alone I gather that the yarn produced more recently, i.e., in the newer colours [e.g. anthracite, dark blue, & light blue], does not look as pretty as that in the original colours. The "roses" spun or chained into the yarn in the new colours look a bit skimpy, monotone, and not as much like actual flowers as those of the original colours [e.g.,Red, Orange, Rose, Beige, Turquoise, Light Green, and Grass Green]. 2. I would avoid a clustered or very ornate lace pattern in this yarn, such as Ilga Leja's Mermaid Stitch, since in these patterns the embellishments will catch and pull the clusters out of shape, barring a lot of time-consuming adjustment with a crochet hook, or even re-knitting section after section. I would suggest sticking instead with simple or drop stitch lace, where this snagging is much less likely to occur.
Thank you, Melanie

Comments about SMC Select Rosas:
this yarn has a very nice feel to it but you have to allow for the little nubbins that occur every 8 inches or so. It is a little tricky to achieve a tight knit due to the texture. The other problem I notices is that the nubbins of yarn unravel every so often and need to be tied off. This can be hidden fairly easily because of the texture of the yarn, but you have to watchful while you are knitting.

Comments about SMC Select Rosas:
I knitted a sweater from a Gedifra pattern for this yarn. The yarn felt so good in my hands, I really hated to finish the project. The sweater looked great, but was surprisingly heavy, and I suspect it may stretch. Yarn snags easily, but I would definitely use it again.
