I'm very impressed with this yarn, I have to admit (after the unpleasant surprise with the expensive Japanese competitor). It is very evenly dyed, has a good old-fashioned feel of wool which appeals to my scandinavian sensibilities, and the color schemes are very much to my liking. With 52 stitches I can finish one sock within two days of commuting, so it really is a fast knit, isn't it? On the 'con' side, it does split if you're not paying attention, but overall I've found this to be a durable yarn, and certainly well worth it (I get easily three adult size pairs out of two skeins). Caution, though, a young child won't like the feel, it's a bit too coarse for that. Should be nice and warm for snow boots and ski trips to come!

A male co-worker asked for a pair of socks. We searched webs together and decided on this yarn since it had wool and was washable. I am disappointed with the coarseness of the yarn. I hope he gets similar results as the last reviewer that the socks get softer with washing. It was not enjoyable to knit with this yarn. I also had issues with the yarn splitting.

I reviewed this yarn back in July of 2011 when I first tried it for socks. This evening I reached into my sock drawer in the dark to grab a pair, any pair, slid them on to go into the garage, and thought. "Wow, these are comfy, springy, and very soft socks! What the heck is this pair!?" In the light I viewed my tootsies, snugged in a nearly-18-month-old pair of Kertzer OYT in the camo print. These socks have been worn and washed at least weekly in that time.
I didn't have big expectations of this yarn when I tried it--I am after all a German sock yarn addict. I normally dislike the EU made-in-Turkey yarns. But despite the original adjustments I had to make to work with this yarn, the socks have worn well beyond any expectation. I'm tapping the piggy bank to add more of this to the stash before it goes away forever. BTW, I worked them in single crochet, toe up, add-on heel, B hook (Boye), 3 + 2 ribbing. They are extremely comfortable inside work, hiking, and alpine boots...and hiking sandals too.

I love knitting socks with this yarn. The random stripes are fun to knit.
It does shed a bit while knitting, but washes well. Also, this yarn can be a bit splitty when knitting cables & twisted stitches.

This is a great yarn, and cost about half what I've paid elsewhere for similar yarn.
I love the fact that it has Aloe in the yarn. The Aloe makes it a joy to knit into socks, gloves, sweaters and lacy shawls.
I'm a big fan.
If I were rich, I'd buy a whole lot more to add to my stash. Alas, I have to buy just what I plan to use during the next few months.

I used this yarn with Noro sock yarn to create an interesting color pattern for a hat. Even though the On Your Toes yarn was a little heavier than the Noro, they worked well together. As a result the hat is warmer and more substantial.
