      Not a good choice

Comments about Wisdom Yarns Poems Sock:

This was a really bad choice. It felt nice in the ball but once I started knitting with it it was a nightmare.

It untwisted and split. I spent almost as much time respinning as I did knitting.

The finished fabric was fuzzy and itchy.

Comments about Wisdom Yarns Poems Sock:

This yarn has beautiful colorways, but this is also as far as the pros go. Coming at almost $20 this yarn is utterly unsuitable for knitting, crocheting etc. Having knit since more than 30 years I have seen many yarns including sockyarns. This one stands out as the skein falls apart before one even starts working with it. The yarn will catch and knot faster than one can untangle it. I had to re-skein 2 of 3 skeins immediately. I wouldn't recommend doing this on their own as the yarn has to be laid out on the floor and will knot up again immediately, so one person has to wind and another one or two untangle the yarn. The yarn has zero elasticity and while socks look nice they can't actually be washed or worn - they will shrink (!) into a floppy, amorphous, semi-felted mess, possibly useful as a rag, but the the yarn sheds a lot, so not great for this application either. For shawls the yarn is a bit too scratchy. In summary, love the colors but will not purchase this product again.

            Worth the Effort

After surviving two pairs of knees socks, in Happy Wendy bamboo, this is really no bigger challenge.
Happy Wendy was lovely when complete, with perfect color pathways; however, I suggest being under very good light, ensuring that stitches don't split or turn, enabling a nice stitch definition. I do admit, this yarn and Happy Wendy bamboo demanded more attention from me: but worth it! (note- my skeins were fairly consistent in diameter; but I suggest to always roll yarn into ball prior to knitting, to eyeball what you may have and avoid knots.)

I used the yarn to knit a pair of socks. It was very hard to achieve symmetry due to the dye method--hard to find the repeat.

                  Colorway is NOTHING like depicted.

I haven't used this yarn yet, so I don't have any comment about how it knits. I do know this: I chose colorway 957, cold fire, for a patriotic grandson who wanted red/blue socks. The picture looks EXTREMELY red and blue, but when the skein arrived the colorway was hot pink/barn red/olive/aqua. That's not going to work for my grandson! I may yet keep the yarn and try to use it in a different project. The search for my grandson's red/blue sock yarn goes on...

I have been knitting for many years, and so have a fair amount of experience with "difficult" yarns. I think this makes great socks, and so was willing to have to deal with the thick/thin nature of the yarn, which is not usual in sock yarn. It seems to twist a bit more than usual coming out the skein, but I would definitely use it again. The socks are very attractive.

I really don't see how anyone knits with this hideous yarn. Tangles and splits in a second. Unevenly spun and breaks easily. Colors are quite pretty but how would you know if you can't make anything with it? I did not purchase it at WEBS, but had seen it here and wanted to try it. One must have to be an advanced knitter to be able to use this and also have a very light touch.
