Comments about Debbie Macomber Petals Sock:

This is the softest yarn (not just sock yarn) I have ever knit with. I have peripheral neuropathy which causes the skin on my feet to be unusually sensitive. So thesesocks feel like heaven on my feet. Since thereof generally an inverse relationship between softness & durability in yarn, I am a bit concerned about how long these socks will last. The main problem I had with this yarn was that the angora did not seem to be well spun in - causing a fuzzy halo. The main problem had with this yarn was that it was far more tangled in the ball than any other yarn I've ever used. I think thatis because the angora didn't seem like it was spun in with the wool very thoroughly. The result ISA fuzzy halo that tends to stick to itself. I had to spen about 45 minutes untangling the initial clump of yarn that came out of the center if the all score I could astounding on (& it must be designed as aa a center pull ballbecause the only end I could find came from the center - even after having used enough yarn for a pair of socks, I still cannot find the other "outside" end.). Also the fact that the angora isnot blended well with the other fibers means that little fuzz balls form along the strand & tend to slide along, picking up more fuzz & growing) as you knit until they get to about a mm thick at which point, one has to carefully clip them off. Despite the fact that dealing with the stickiness of the yarn probably added acouple of hours to the kniing time, I still like this yarn & wish it came in more colors especially solids. It would be wonderful for hats, scarves, mittens & shawls. It would definitely be close to the top if the list for next to skin wear especially in view of the reasonable price.
