I have knitted two tunic sweaters and two tanks from Euroflax: the earliest of these garments is seven years old and shows no signs of wear. This yarn is more difficult to knit with than a nice cushy wool, but the sheen, drape, and durability of the fabric is worth it. Your finished items will look very expensive (as they will be, since this is not a bargain yarn) and will NOT pill. The finished garments will be heavy, hence the drape, so do allow for a bit of lengthwise growth. And if you plan to machine wash your garment (yes, it's machine washable) just make sure you wash your gauge swatch before you measure. I found that it shrank a bit in length but not in width.
This fiber will bias if you use the stockinette stitch because of its characteristics. Use textured stitches or lace stitches.
I have made some wonderful items with this fiber and look forward to additional projects.
I have finished the most beautiful garment-a suite for myself from Euroflax sport weight in french blue using #2 needles. I have heard from several people that it is difficult to knit due to yarn does not give. I did not have any problem with the yarn, and even if I had, the end product would have worth the difficulties. I knitted the skirt from the Interweave Knits, Spring 2007. The pattern name is "Indigo Ripples Skirt". I created the matching top myself. The look is so polished and almost etherial, it creates a "Wow!" effect wherever I go. I had even stranger man complimenting on my outfit! It is good enough to go to a classy dinner or a day wedding, and the linen feels so great in a summer! I am in love with the yarn. It took 6 scanes to create my suite, but it is worth every penny!
Absolutely love this yarn! Made a Ripples Skirt by Kat Coyle from Interweave in French Blue on #2, then designed a matching short sleeve cardigan with Ripples Peplum. The look is fabulouse! made myself really proud and "wow" effect any time anywhere I wear it! Polished dressy look, feminine, almost etherial, good enough for a wedding or dinner in Manhattan! Love the yarn! Would love to knit a long summer dress in terra cota!
