This is the first super bulky yarn I've worked with, and once I got over how huge it looked in the hank and started the convertible scarf/cowl project I bought it for I really liked it. It works up fast even for a slow knitter like me. Stitch definition is great - the project has cables and they really look sculpted.

The one little letdown I'm experiencing is that this yarn has no sheen. It's very wooly, but I may be prejudiced because my last few projects were with skinny, shiny stuff like bamboo and merino sock yarn.

It's a single but there doesn't seem to be any problem with breakage. It does split a little, probably because the only #15 needles I have are pointy metal things.

All in all, I like it. It's different from what I'm used to and I'm enjoying how fast the project is going.

I used this one in beautiful shade of Sandstone Heather to knit a subper bulky moebius snood. This wool is super easy to handle, even straight from the skein. What I like is its very natural however smooth feel. The only thing which could prevent me from buying it again is the fact it sheds everywhere, so much that the beige hair left on my black coat was mistaken for angora cat's hair !!!! Even though the colour palette is very attractive, as they somehow manage to make the most neutral shades vibrant!

This is a thick soft yarn the knits up quickly and beautifully. It's heavy, so I had to take more breaks than usual, but that was fine

    Comments about Ella Rae Mega:

Purchased at Tuesday morning/closeout bargain. I really enjoyed working with bamboo blunt tip ChiaGoo #15 needles to make a cowl. It holds a stitch well, and is light and lofty at the same time. Too bad I am sensitive skinned and my model found the cowl itchy. I will make a drawstring and close one end and perhaps on next hank make a hat. Got several to use up.

Made a Burton Bear Cowl. Pattern requires a super bulky ~ and regular bulky just won't do.

      fabulous!

      Comments about Ella Rae Mega:

I knitted a thick and cozy sweater for my spouse using this yarn. It's wonderfully soft and easy to work with. The color was spot on - I purchased the Hunter Green Heather. As with other roving and lightly spun yarns, you need to be careful not to pull or yank the thread while knitting. This sweater knit up so fast and the results were so fabulous that I am buying more to make a sweater for myself. Because of the generous amount of yarn in each skein, I only needed 5 skeins to make a sweater.

I used this to make a blanket for a friend's wedding. It's not as soft as cascade magnum and mine had particulates in it that i couldn't remove. It is, however, quite beautiful and blocked well.

        Comments about Ella Rae Mega:

Using this for a sweater jacket. The color is gorgeous and the fleece is soft. However it is so lightly twisted that it splits easily and sheds like crazy. I have a feeling it will pill or fuzz easily as well.
