I bought this yarn in 3 different colors and made a chunky, striped scarf. The yarn is so soft and very squishy. I love it! However, it does shed quite a bit. It doesn't bother me that much because I can pick up the hairs with a lint roller, but I'd prefer it didn't shed.

I've heard of two techniques to stop the yarn from shedding: 1. Put the folded knit/crocheted item into a plastic bag and place in the freezer for a couple days. 2. Put the item in the dryer and tumble it for 30 min. with no heat. I'm going to try these and see if it helps. I don't want to leave hairs everywhere when I wear it.

Yes, it's a shedder!

This yarn is a major shedder! I knit a scarf in the mink color, intending to gift it, but I'm not sure I can give it away in good conscience knowing it will shed all over. I knit part of the scarf on a plane, and the stranger sitting next to me was left covered in fibers! I was mortified. This is a lovely soft yarn otherwise, but to me, the extreme shedding makes it so I would not buy it again.

Comments about Blue Sky Alpacas Bulky Alpaca:

I have bought this brand of bulky yarn from Blue Sky Alapaca and this time the skeins were much smaller for a little more money. Ususally for teh knitted cowls I make 3 skeins is plenty but this time I needed 5. Luckily I had two extra balls of yarn laying around because ordering 3 skeins was not enough. That was pretty disappointing.

Comments about Blue Sky Alpacas Bulky Alpaca:

Overall this was a lovely yarn to work with. There were a few things that bothered me though. It sheds like an animal, I think I've had less hair on me while petting my kitty. In addition, while in the middle of knitting, it lost its twist and suddenly tore, three times. I'm not a tight knitter, so I wasn't sure why it tore. Also while it's soft, some folks with sensitive skin may find it to be a tad scratchy on the first few wears. Afterwards, it softens beautifully. This yarn makes lovely scarves and cowls. I find that, for me, it is a "go-to" yarn for cowls especially.

my daughter (who is a very novice knitter --11y.o.) wanted to make her father a scarf. this was the perfect yarn. it is soft and easy to work with and works up quickly. so far the yarn has held up well with just a small amount of shedding.

I'm in the mdst of making a giant wrap. I now have a 'special knitting outfit' until I finish this project because this yarn sheds so much. it's a shame because the color is gorgeous and it feels as soft as a baby's cheek.
