Artyarns Ensemble Light

Artyarns Ensemble Light is a delectable combination of smooth silk and soft cashmere with a slight twist. The silk and cashmere strands take the dye differently and create a two toned yarn. Your finished product will have a slightly variegated look with the shimmer of silk. Made in USA.

Note: though the recommended gauge is 5 sts = 1", Ensemble Light is a 2-ply DK weight. Please be sure to swatch before beginning your project.

You can get the Ensemble Light and Rhapsody Light Collection vol.1 which includes 7 patterns in Ensemble Light and Rhapsody Light in an eBook completely free when you purchase a hank of Ensemble Light or Rhapsody Light. Just go to the website listed on the hank you've purchased, and enter the coupon code to download!

I'm making a sweater. Just did the swatch, using the recommended size US6 (4mm) needle, I had 24sts by 34 rows in 10cm x 10cm. The fabric was very loose. Re-did with US 4 (3.25mm) the fabric was much better and got 32sts x 40 rows.

I have bought yarn from this source for many years. I have always found the product descriptions accurate, so when I noted this product was labeled 'worsted,' I bought it without hesitation. When it arrived, I was shocked. It is fingerling weight--not even sock weight!. So if you think you're getting a product like Cascade 220 worsted, be warned, you are not.

However, I will say that the yarn is baby soft, beautifully colored. I applaud Webs customer service who without hesitation agreed to take the yarn back and credit my card. Webs always makes things right.

      Comments about Artyarns Ensemble Light:

I made a shawl out of the "Magenta". I was surprised at the actual dye lot compared to the picture. It is much more varigated. I initially completed a simple shawl and ended up ripping it out. It came apart very easily. I then used one of the patterns that came with the yarn, very lacy. It was much easier than I expected. I wore it to my daughter's wedding (warm temperatures but the shawl was perfect) and received many compliments. I have now been wearing it as a loose scarf in very cold temps. It is NOT itchy, it is so soft and drapes beautifully and also very warm.I always receive compliments. I never knitted with such fine yarn and I am not good at correcting mistakes. I managed to finish without any major errors. The price seems expensive but I made a 72" X 12-14" shawl with one hank.

      Comments about Artyarns Ensemble Light:

I bought this to knit a shawl for my Mom and it is incredibly light weight, silky soft to the touch and very warm with a lovely drape and soft sheen - it's the most beautiful thing I have ever knit. I quickly bought more colorways to make a scarf for a favorite cousin and another shawl, for me. The only shortcoming I can speak of is that pulling out my knitting when I made mistakes was difficult because the yarn would cling to itself somewhat. I highly recommend this yarn to anyone who wants an indulgently luxurious yarn.

Super-soft, this yarn does not do well with a lot of handling. It gets fuzzy. One thin strand of silk and one of cashmere, it can be doubled for a more substantial weight. A generous gift from my spouse.

This is a beautiful product; however, it is not a worsted weight yarn. I was shocked when it arrived. It is thread-like. However, I have conbined it with another, heavier yarn, and it crocheted up beautifully. I tried crocheting with it solo-a frustrating experience!

I found it a bit inelastic after the wool I was knitting with previously but once I chose the right needles (addi turbo for the welts & wooden cubics for the body) I just loved knitting with it. I'm going to use just over 2 hanks for a sweater so it's not really expensive. Worth the money. A beautiful drape and sheen and so soft to wear.
