Madelinetosh Pashmina Worsted

The soft sheen of Pashmina yarn, in a worsted weight! Madelinetosh Pashmina Worsted is a touchable blend of merino wool, silk and cashmere (like the famous pashmina scarves), with a four-ply construction that knits or crochets up into a soft, drapey fabric. This gorgeous yarn is machine washable, and like all Madelinetosh yarns, Pashmina Worsted is hand-dyed in small batches.

Please note: Each skein of Madelinetosh Pashmina Worsted is unique. There are no dye lots and skeins may vary. The yarn color you receive may look different than the color pictured.

I absolutely loved working with this yarn. Felt great, behaved very nicely. However, the sweater made with Pashmina began to pill with very little usage making the sweater look old and worn out. Loved working with this yarn, but for the price, would have expected it to tolerated being used, even a little!

              Comments about Madelinetosh Pashmina Worsted:

I used this to make a sweater for my MIL. It is beautiful, soft, and seems like it should hold up well. I had to reknit the button band about four times and the yarn did not get worn and frayed like some do with repeated working. It did seem to grow quite a bit when I wet blocked it, but I put it in the dryer at low heat in a lingerie bag and it came out beautifully. The finished garment is quite fuzzy, however, and sheds like crazy. My colorway was Astrid gray and my black pants picked up the fuzz and looked like I had been holding a white cat. I'm worried that it will pill easily, given the fuzziness and other reviews.

I knit a lace hat. I knit it at a smaller gauge, because I wanted a warm hat, and lace is holey. It's fabulous. The Cove colorway matches the Cove colorway of A.S.A.P. I knit into a cowl apx 18 months ago.

I am leary of knitting mittens, due to the cashmere content and my tendency to be tough on mittens, but otherwise I hope to knit with this yarn more in the future, where my budget allows.

I have used this yarn for 'reminders of home and love' scarfs for my children and their friends as they leave home for postgraduate study and careers overseas. It is a snuggly-soft, vivid and resilient yarn which typifies the enduring connections. It rewards the time and effort of creating individualized designs.

I've had knitters ask me why I would go to such an expense to knit with this yarn. The answer used to simply be the colors, but that has morphed into that it's such a luxury to knit with! This is one of those yarns that even if you are knitting something as a gift, the act of knitting is a gift to yourself! The drape is gorgeous, but the feel is spectacular!

soft surface to the touch makes this appealing for garmwnts like the cowl I made. Not too tightly twisted, so I needed to be careful not to split yarn.

I have used this yarn several times for scarves and cowls. The colors are beautiful and rich, and the color variations are lovely. I would follow the advice with the yarn to alternate skeins every other row if using more than one; the last order I received had a noticeable difference in color.

I have not washed the scarf I made with this yarn yet, but I have used MadTosh before and it grew quite a bit, both lengthwise and widthwise. I assume the same will happen with this scarf based on my earlier experience. The yarn is very soft and was easy on my hands. The yarn slipped off my needles several times, but the stitches didn't go anywhere because of the fuzziness of the yarn. The color is striking and evenly distributed throughout with no spots of dark or light color. Price is a bit high, but the yarn does contain a little cashmere. All in all, a very nice yarn.
