Comments about Swans Island Worsted:
I bought this to knit an Aran style sweater for my son. I knitted an Alice Starmore pattern, and I absolutely loved the way that this yarn held the cables. Given that this was the first project of this scope that I have done, there was, needless to say, some frogging that occurred. This disturbed the yarn not at all. The finished product has a nice snugly weight, and is soft enough to be worn against bare skin. I am in love. It will knit into an heirloom item, and it will make almost any knitted item a work of art. When knitted, it is almost as soft as cashmere.
Pros
- Beautiful Color
Cons
- Color bleeds
Best Uses

Comments about Swans Island Worsted:
I love the deep purples, blues and reds of this yarn! My hands get stained blue after a few a few minutes of knitting but comes off quickly when I was my hands. Knits up nicely, I'm working on the Katherine Pullover and the lace pattern is easy to see with the dark color.
Pros
- Beautlful Colors
- Nice Yarn Quality
- Soft
Cons
- Dye Bleeds Onto Hands

Comments about Swans Island Worsted:
I just finished a cardigan with this yarn. I love the yarn and color and I am sad that the dye bleeds so much. My project used the marine color and charcoal color and both contain indigo in their dye formulas. My hands turned VERY blue. There is a disclaimer on the label saying that everything was done to minimize the bleeding indigo issue and that you can just wash your hands in soap and water... This should not happen in such an extreme way with a high quality yarn like this. I am afraid that it will rub off on my clothes or the back of my neck might turn blue when I wear my beautiful new sweater. My hands had turned blue from just knitting the gauge swatch so I soaked all of my skeins in a vinegar and cold water bath before knitting, but I still had a lot of color bleeding while knitting.
I love the yarn and color so much that I finished my sweater anyway and I will see what happens when I wear it. I imagine that colors that do not contain indigo dye will not have this problem.
I really hope that Swan Island will figure out what they need to do to eliminate or at least greatly reduce this bleeding issue on the beautiful blue colors. I would use this yarn again and again if it didn't bleed.
Pros

Comments about Swans Island Worsted:
I've knit many things from scarves to hats, mittens, and sweaters with this yarn. It is joy to knit - no splitting, beautiful colors and very soft and warm!
With the darker colors, I experienced some staining on my fingers as well as my wooden knitting needles and rubber stitch markers. Not a big deal, though.
I love this yarn! If you want to knit anything in worsted wool, I strongly recommend trying Swan's Island!
