I'm knitting my son a school jumper with this yarn. It's absolutely fine for this purpose; although I had envisaged something more 'wooly'. But this is superwash, and I suspect that might be the compromise one has to make with such yarns. Anyway, it knits quickly and fairly easily. Minor issues I have with it (and this might be due to my relative inexperience as a knitter) is that it splits fairly easily if I'm not paying attention to my knitting. The other thing is that it's incredibly dull to knit (I prefer more interesting yarns and colours; this is navy blue, pretty boring). Overall though it's pretty much spot on for a school jumper. It's yet to undergo a wear/wash test, so we'll see.

Comments about Plymouth Yarn Select Worsted Merino Superwash:

I like this yarn quite a bit but it does have its challenges. As far as merino goes, you can't beat the quality and texture for the price. I really like how this yarn feels when it's been worked up - soft and springy. The colors are also bright and clear with no variation within the dye lot.

It does tend to twist up quite a bit and it splits but not terribly. I would recommend this to anyone who was looking for a mid to upper quality wool that wasn't going to kill their budget.

Comments about Plymouth Yarn Select Worsted Merino Superwash:

I used this yarn to knit a helmet liner for my son. I was very happy with the way it turned out. I wanted something very soft because the helmet liner/hat would partially cover his face. He needed it to be 100% wool for fire safety. This merino wool yarn was perfect - very soft, 100% wool and easy to care for!

Comments about Plymouth Yarn Select Worsted Merino Superwash:

I purchased the yarn for a complex cable patterned sweater. Color is lovely, as shown. The reviews said this yarn had great stitch definition, which is partly why I purchased it. I found this recommendation to be very true, and I am pleased with the way the project is working up. There is a minor problem with the yarn separating slightly as I knit, which means I need to be careful with the splits to catch all the little fraying hairs. It is neither continuous nor a large problem - only a minor inconvenience, which is why I rated the yarn 4 out of 5, rather than 5 out of 5. I would still buy it again for a similar project. Nice feel, nice yarn, nice color, nice price.

I have always been a fan of Plymouth and made many items with their yarn. my daughter can't wear wool next to her skin but she is able to wear a hat and a scraf using this yarn and wants to try a pair of socks with my new found yarn.
