Noro Taiyo

Noro Taiyo has a beautiful fiber content with unbelievable next to the skin softness. The sheen from the silk makes Noro’s already fabulous colorways shine even more. Noro Taiyo would make a great scarf or wrap and a fabulous sweater!  Made in Japan.

I knit a sweater from this and it turned out wonderful. It is much heavier than you think at first because it is so soft. This causes a bit of "growing" in garments. Keep this in mind for underarms and length. I would love to have a closet full of sweaters out of this.

I love Noro yarn and the beautiful colors.

I purchased 3 skeins for a project and every skein had hand tied knots connecting new yarn. Noro yarn is known for shading why would Noro, knowingly piece yarn with a knot, without considering the colorway shading - causing abrupt shading switches in the skein? I understand finding knots in skeins of yarn occasionally (don't like it) but every skein purchased?

Also because of the combination of fibers spin in this yarn when the yarn switches over to mostly cotton, the yarn is at it's weakest point and easily shreds.

Noro still has the most beautiful colorways available but when selecting this yarn realize it has to be treated very carefully and does not have the strength of a Noro 100% wool yarn.

    Comments about Noro Taiyo:

I knitted a simple Kimono in garter stitch. (Plymouth Encore garter stitch pattern.) The fabric is soft soft soft, with a beautiful texture, hand & drape. I am sure I will get a lot of use out of this piece. I am tempted to make one in a different colorway just because its a pleasure to wear...jeans or more tailored lines are all good.

    Comments about Noro Taiyo:

I've been waiting for Noro to create a comfortable soft fiber, which is predominantly cotton; yay! It's finally here with the advent of Taiyo! I can't get enough of it! I've made four scarves so far, and will most likely be buying some more Taiyo shortly. The colors are beautiful, and those of us who have a hard time working with wool, can finally enjoy the beauty of Noro!

Normally, I am not a fan of cotton yarns. This is an exceptional yarn. It is soft and the colorways are fabulous!!! I am knitting the shawl/scarf on page 62 of Noro Lace book in number 75. It is absolutely beautiful. I love Noro in general, but usually use the wools/wool blends. I think I will use this stitch pattern and Taiyo for a sweater.

              Comments about Noro Taiyo:

I have shied away from cotton yarns because they tend to be stiff, but not this one. I bought it to make a loose jacket and it is knitting up beautifully. I have other projects to finish but its so much fun to see the color changes in this I can't put it down.
It doesn't split, fuzz or pull apart as others have noted and so far in three skeins I haven't found a knot. (Twisting is a minor problem, only once in a while) A quality yarn.

              Comments about Noro Taiyo:

This was the first Noro yarn that I used and I absolutely LOVE it. It is so soft and knits quickly (I look forward to the color changes!). However, as others had mentioned, there were segments tied on which did not match the color segway. It wasn't only a few times, it was quite often. Another disappointment is that this yarn shreds VERY easily. Even with those cons, I still love this yarn and will buy again.

I was able to knit decent sized scarf with one skein. I casted on 24 and had enough yarn left over to add fringe.

If I want a striped sweater, scarf etc. love the way Noro makes strips that are even and end properly at sides. Amazing. Also, make an open work top or sweater colors blend beautiflly. Fun to watch the colors grow and combine so nicely on whatever item you are making. Often a nice surprise. High qualy yarn. Found best price at Webs. Had an issue with mis-order. Wrong yarn weight. Webs was great about the exchange. Customer Service helpful. Will definitely reorder again and recommend to other knitters.
