I like to do seamless sleeves and this size is indispensable for knitting seamless sleeves in smaller sizes. In general, I like the Takumi bamboo circular needles because they're VERY reasonably priced. In larger sizes I think their cords tend to be a little bit stiff. Once in a while they'll even kink-instead-of-bend. But that's not an issue at all in the smaller sizes; in fact, I think the extra body makes the tiny-size circular needles easier to use. Most likely, you'll hardly ever NEED to use circular needles this small -- but these are a lifesaver on those rare occasions that you do. Thanks Takumi!

9" circulars turn out to be a bad joke. Use 40" magic loop or rely on dpns! The needles themselves are hard to hold because they're less than an inch & a half long--the plastic 'wire' is less than 6 inches! Lesson learned.

I was using double points on socks, but they are hard to handle for size 1. I got these circulars and generally like them - much better than DP. But, as mentioned by another reviewer, the needle part is really short so my fingers bunch up and cramp after a bit. I also wish the cable went out straight from the points, instead of an angle in the metal connector. That bend is a nuisance for me as I tend to hit it with my finger and jerk the point around. This is only a problem as the points are so short. In summary: much better than DP but not my perfect sock needle yet.

I love circular needles and knitting in the round, but most do not accommodate smaller caliber pieces. Double pointed needles are just to clumsy for me. I was very happy to find these 9" circulars with short needles. Now seamless sleeves are easy. Maybe I will tackle socks after all. I wish someone would develop a circular needle set with short detachable needles. For now, this is the best option.

I love these for socks, I now own the 2, 3, 4, and 8 sizes, and will be getting the rest as I can. I wish they came in a 9/10 for chunky wool. Ah well.

Once I got used to holding them differently, the socks zoomed along in the making. I have made 6 pairs of socks using these needles and they are wonderful.

I'm just on my second pair of socks, but I did the first pair with DPNs and the second pair with these circular needles, and they are definitely faster for the circular parts of the sock. If you haven't seen these, the bamboo part is very short, and it does feel a little scrunched, but not as bad as you'd think. I feel like they could make them longer--say, 11 inches--because the cable is pretty crowded.
