Knitter's Pride Basix Fixed Circular Needles 40"
Knitter's Pride Basix Fixed Circular Needles are both lightweight and strong with a smooth, polished finish and perfect birch wood points. These needles are ideal for knitting with many types of yarn, but the large sizes make them particularly well-suited to today's popular chunky yarns. The flexible cables attach to the needles with a smooth join that ensures easy stitch glide without snagging. The needles are also available in 24", 32" and 47" lengths.

I'm using size 17's for a sweater knit in the round. I bought the 40" size to use for the small arm circumferences; I'll be using the magic loop method. I can't imagine trying this with double points.

I bought the size 36 basix wooden needles to knit a super-bulky cowl, but could not use them because the tips were utterly jagged. Unfortunately, I had thrown the receipt away and so could not return them. Fortunately, I did not spend too much money on them, but it was a waste of money nonetheless.
Please note, however, that the Nova metal needles in the Knitters Pride line are great: slick, with a smooth join and very flexible cord. They are a steal for the price!
