Comments about Lantern Moon Ebony 10" Single Point Needles:

I'm a relatively new knitter having taken up the hobby a bit over a year ago. Most of my learning has been through the Internet, and I've always felt like I was missing something significant because I just couldn't get comfortable no matter how much time I spent practicing. Several people suggested I experiment with different needles, but after trying several different brands and materials there was no big improvement. Then one day I came across these on sale and decided to take another shot. I can't say they've made me a great knitter, but I find them much more comfortable to work with, I commit fewer errors, my speed and stitch consistency has improved, and they just make me happy to hold.

As far as appearance and feel, I find these needles beautiful visually and tactically. Obviously the different types of wood result in different appearances, but I do not have a single pair that fails to exhibit a beautiful and unique wood grain. Depending on the type ordered the needles can be unstained or relatively so, or deeply stained. I either event it seems the makers are proficient in the art of selecting what suits each type of wood. As far as the feel of these, I find it a bit difficult to put into words, but I love the warmth, solidness, smoothness, mixed with the tiniest bit of grip and texture. I believe it is this barely perceptible texture that has reduced the number of dropped stitches in spite of improved knitting speed.

Needless to say I have become hooked on these needles and buy them every time I can find them on sale [and sometimes when I can't get them on sale] because I don't enjoy this hobby so well without them. If I didn't travel with my knitting this would be the needle I would use exclusively. These truly are my "go to" needle except when I think they'll be seriously abused in my travels.

I own a set of Lantern Moon circular needles in Ebony, so when I recv'd these needles, I immediately felt I had received the wrong product as the wood is distinctly not black, which is what I was expecting. This however does not effect the performance of the needles for knitting except when I am forced to knit under compromised lighting conditions, the contrast btw yarn and needle color is more critical.
