These and the Karbonz needles by Knitters Pride have instantly become my 'go to' needles. If I need slightly more tooth along the needle surface, I go for the carbons. If I need good 'slide', the Nova needles are my instant grab -- I would strongly recommend having both. (Though each works brilliantly all around, I like the added slide of the Novas for that little bit of extra speed.) I have never been a fan of wooden needles or plastic because either the feel of them is off to me, or because, as I tend to work with needle sizes 000-4, I frequently blunt my bamboo needles rapidly as a relatively firm/tight knitter. At the smaller gauges, this becomes problematic fast as the points don't hold up as well, even with the best quality woods, as metal needles. I am also not as fond of plastic needles over all.
One thing I have noticed about the Nova needles that I find particularly interesting: I'm accustomed to 'losing a needle' here and there with my other metal needles; I haven't encountered this problem yet with the Novas, which was a pleasant surprise. It may be dumb luck on my part, as I don't notice any difference in the surface finish between these needles and similar metal needles at a glance.

I needed a set of DPNs for a new project and decided to switch to metal because it's more "slippy" and because it would likely not meet the same fate as my wood one that my dog chomped in half.
These are a decent weight, nicely tapered with a sharp but not too sharp tip; however, I'm halfway through my project (a pair of fingerless mittens) and a substantial amount of the plating near the tips has flaked off. I've got battered looking needles which might start to catch yarn or lose their easy gliding property as more of the plating chips off and I have little silver flecks on my hands and in my project. I'm a tight knitter so my needles do usually show wear at the tips but never this quickly or severely.

I needed nickel plated hollow DPN, since it went out of stock after I ordered, webs kindly upgraded to a more expensive DPN. Regretfully, this did not work for my non-knitting purpose. Webs quickly refunded my money with no return necessary. I gave the needles to a knitter who was glad to have them.
