I didn't think I'd ever go back to using metal knitting needles after using wood, but lo and behold, I LOVE these needles! Yarn glides smoothly with minimal click-clacking noise. I'm so glad I splurged on the entire set, and I can definitely see adding a few extra pairs of popular sizes to my collection in the future.

I really like this set. I'm only giving it four stars however, because the tip is so pointed that it my fingers get sore from pushing on the tip too much. I don't know if everybody knits like my mom taught me to knit, but since I've had this set, I've noticed how often I push on the right hand needle with my left index finger, only because my finger gets sore. I have a set of Addy interchangeable needles and I don't have that problem with those. Otherwise I use this set to make scarves and washcloths and other things that are narrow. And as long as I knit loose things, the tip doesn't bother me.

If you prefer knitting with metal needles for the speed and smoothness, you will love these needles. The nickel plating adds an extra layer of slickness so that stitches can be knit remarkably fast, with no drag of the yarn on the needle (and if you cast on tight like I do, stitches pick up easily). The weights are substantial but not too heavy, and they warm quickly. The multicolored wood caps are a nice, artistic touch that actually serves a functional purpose, as their weight provides a good counterbalance to the working end of the needle. I prefer the 10" length whenever I work with single-point straight needles, so these will get a lot of use. I initially thought the carrying case would be something that I would set aside and forget, but it's actually quite well made and will likely keep the needles from getting damaged for a very long time.
