Comments about Kollge Yarns Firm Cable 40" Square Circular Needles:
These needles are an improvement over the original needle design. I was not able to use the original design. They were too floppy and it slowed my knitting down because you had to move the stitches manually. I thought that the firm needles would have a little thinner cable, but the new design solved the problem of having to move the stitches manually. Very smooth connection of tip to cable so magic loop knitting is easy. Stitches don't hang up. The square tip design is easy on your hands, They have very sharp tips.

Comments about Kollge Yarns Firm Cable 40" Square Circular Needles:
Very sharp tips hurt my finger tips as I pushed the points. Really good for getting the tip exactly where you want it. I prefer the original Kollage cable. I am hoping this is more durable.

Comments about Kollge Yarns Firm Cable 40" Square Circular Needles:
I like square needles. They have reduced my wrist pain significantly. Also, I'm a loose knitter and when I use squares I don't have to go down two sizes to get gauge.
Pros
- Comfortable to hold
- Good points
Cons
- Snags at join
Best Uses
- Sock knitting
Comments about Kollge Yarns Firm Cable 40" Square Circular Needles:
The needles feel very comfortable to hold and use during sock knitting. Very fast knitting of wool. However, I had trouble getting the yarn moved from the cable back onto the needles. They kept catching on the join. I am hoping this is a manufacturer's defect and not typical of the brand because I really like the way square needles feel. Easier to hold while I knit 12" of soldier sock leg.
Pros
- Easy to knit with
Cons
- Broke the first time
Best Uses
Comments about Kollge Yarns Firm Cable 40" Square Circular Needles:
I liked these for the first several hours of knitting. I was using them for socks and I knit tightly and they were quite easy to knit with and my tight stitches didn't get stuck. I was having a lot of difficulty moving my stitches back onto the needles though.
Then, out of the blue, the cable broke off the needle as I was pulling it through and made me drop an entire row of stitches.
Pros
- Comfortable
- Unique
Cons
- Sizing may vary
Best Uses
- Knitted afghans
Comments about Kollge Yarns Firm Cable 40" Square Circular Needles:
I'd wanted to try square knitting needles and am quite pleased with how they feel in my hands. These are metal, so the yarn glides nicely over the square surfaces. The 9 1/2 needles knit a swatch slightly smaller than a 9 US round needle, so I am going to try a US 10 square version to see if I can match the swatch dimensions I need for my project. I highly recommend trying square needles!
Pros
- Even stitches
- Fast
- Light
- Shockingly ergonomic
Cons
- none
Best Uses
- Everything
Comments about Kollge Yarns Firm Cable 40" Square Circular Needles:
I wish I could utter one negative, but I LOVE these! I prefer to them to the cubics because I just love metal over wood and there is no sticking, because of perfect joins. The 'original' cable is TOO floppy - you have to push your stitches hard and constantly to move them when magic looping. The 'firm' is freaking fabulous! They feel almost like there is nothing in your hands, no strain at all and I don't have arthritis. These things are GENIUS!!! That's all I have to say.
