Excellent for mittens, socks, hats. I like the shorter 5" size for making childrens' items. They are smooth, yet hold yarn in place and are very warm to the touch. A pleasure to knit with these.

I mainly use DPNs of this size and length for socks and mittens. They grip the yarn but don't slow it down. I find metal too slippery at times so these wooden needles are a happy medium for me. This shorter length is ideal for working small projects like socks and mitts. Plus, the different colors are really beautiful and make it easy to put a set together if you get your needles mixed.

i am using them to knit socks and booties for my soon to arrive granddaughter. I also knitted a darling "cotton candy kimono." The needles are vey well made, smooth, easy to handle, the yarn almost flies through my fingers. Fun!!

The first time I used these needles I got a tiny, deep, nasty splinter in my thumb. The yarn was catching on something as I knit, and when I automatically rubbed my thumb against the needle to find the problem, whammo.
Also, I find a subtle difference in the sharpness of the points, which would probably be hard to see but is very easy to feel as the needle goes smoothly (or not) into a stitch.
I bought two sets of these so I could easily knit 2 socks at the same time. Instead, I am using the sharpest needles that don't have splinters to knit one sock at a time. I was really excited when these needles came out, and thought of immediately buying two sets of all the smallest sizes, as I knit mostly socks these days. Now I'm glad I bought only two sets in one size to try them out. I may be pickier than some knitters, but after all, if the experience isn't enjoyable in a tactile sense, why knit at all?

I purchased a set of US0 / 2.00mm dpns in April 2012. Using a needle gauge, I found the needles in the set ranged from 2.00 to 2.5 mm.
