Fingering Yarn Patterns
Lyrical Knits Sweet Caroline PDF
Lyrical Knits Sweet Caroline is a strikingly beautiful crescent-shaped shawl that is knit from the top down. It begins with stockinette stitch, then transitions into a shell lace pattern, and finishes with a leaf motif lace pattern. This piece is large enough to wear around your shoulders as a traditional shawl, but it can also be wrapped around your neck and worn as a delightful scarf.
This pattern is a PDF download.
Finished Size: Approximately 10 ¾ “ deep, 46” across when lying flat and curved
Note: Be aware that a tight gauge on the garter edging will cause the shawl to curve more, whereas a slightly looser edging will stretch further and result in a straighter edge to the shawl (as shown).
Yarn:
1 hank Malabrigo Sock
OR
1-2 hanks Madelinetosh Tosh Merino Light (two hanks are recommended, but you may end up only needing one)
Yardage: 415 yards fingering weight yarn
Needles: US 6 (4.00mm) 32" circular
Gauge: 20 sts and 30 rows = 4" in stockinette stitch, after blocking.
Pattern updated 5/4/12.
