This cute pullover vest can be made in a variety of fibers and worn practically throughout the year. It is knit in the round from the bottom up to the ribbed empire waist, then divided into front and back portions for the garter stitch chest and back.
The model on the left was made with Reynolds Odyssey (104 yds/50 gram ball; 100% merino wool) in color #502.
The one on the right was made with Shepherd's Wool by Stonehedge Fiber Mill (4 oz/250 yds; 113 g/228 m) in color Lt Turquoise.
Finished Chest Sizes: XS (S, M, L, XL): 32 (36, 40, 44, 48)”/80 (90, 100, 110, 120) cm. Directions are written for size
XS, with changes for additional sizes in parentheses. Fit note: The portion above the waist is designed to be close-
fitting, so choose the finished size that is only 1-2” larger than your actual measurement.
Gauge: 20 sts per 4” (10 cm) in both garter and stockinette st. Row gauge is less important: Stockinette: 28 rows per
4” (10 cm). Garter: 44 rows per 4” (10 cm.)
Do both swatches to get it right, and make a note of which size needles you used for garter and for stockinette.
Needles: 29 or 32” US size 5 (3.75 mm) circular needles, or sizes you need to get gauge with your yarn. Note: it’s quite
possible that you will need different needle sizes to get gauge for the garter stitch portion and the stockinette stitch
Yarn: approx. 655 (735, 825, 930, 985) yds of worsted weight yarn.
Notions needed: 6 stitch markers, scissors, tapestry needle, stitch holder.
