Knitting Matters 905 Seedling Cardi
Knitting Matters patterns are no longer available for sale.
A simple stitch pattern using seed stitch and slip stitches, along with drop shoulder construction, makes for a quick and rewarding project. The shawl collar can be worn as shown or unfolded for extra neck coverage when needed. You don’t have to worry about a child outgrowing this one before it’s done!
This model was made with the unbelievably soft and lovely Shepherd’s Wool (4 oz/250 yds; 113g/228 meters) per skein. Shepherd’s Wool is made in a 150-year old mill in East Jordan, Michigan, USA.
Sizes: 6 (12, 18, 24) months.
Finished Circumference: 18.5 (19.75, 21, 22)”/47 (50, 53, 56) cm
Gauge: 20.5 sts and 34.5 rows per 4” (10 cm) in pattern stitch, after blocking. Do a swatch to get your gauge right! Note regarding Shepherd’s Wool: Your swatch may change size after blocking, so it’s important that you block your swatch before measuring it.
Needles: Size 8 US (5.0 mm) needles for body; size 6 US (3.75mm) for trim and collar. You may need a different needle size to get the right gauge because everyone knits differently. Don’t be bound by the needle size I used -- use the size you need to get the right gauge!
Yarn: 260 (305, 350, 385) yards of worsted weight yarn.
Notions: 4 buttons approx ¾”; 4 stitch markers, 2 stitch holders, coordinating sewing thread and needle, and tapestry needle.
