The bright Red Northampton is a great accent color, especially against gray and black.

Yarn: 3 sks Valley Yarns Northampton (100% wool, 247yds / 100g) color Red
Needles: US size 7 (4.5mm) needles or size needed to get gauge
Gauge: 18 sts and 26 rows = 4” in stockinette stitch
24 sts and 28 rows = 4” in hearts of oak stitch, blocked

Best Uses
I am an experienced knitter, used to complicated patterns, and found this Hearts of Oak pattern to be difficult to follow and the outcome was not pretty. With most patterns you can 'read' the pattern in your work as you knit. Not with this one. I knit about five inches of the scarf before giving up. It did not have the lovely texture I expected. All drudgery and no fun.
