i bought this yarn in several colors in order to knit gifts. the yarn arrived quickly and i was delighted with the colors, which look much better in person. the first thing i knit was a slouchy beret. i liked it so much i kept it for myself. then i knit another which came out just lovely. the stitch definition was good, the yarn is soft and i love the tweedy look. it has also kept its shape. i made fingerless mitts after this. i HAD to order more of this yarn in green to knit a birthday beret. i am delighted with blackstone tweed yarn.

I purchased this yarn at a LYS in order to make a cardigan. The yarn was soft and despite the price I bought it. The yarn does not have an even texture and is quite thin in places. It is a bit thin for a worsted weight, the number of stitches per inch were spot on but the height of the rows came out short. The yarn has a lot of mohair & angora (35% total) which I believe may compromise the integrity of the yarn's strength. The yarn will break with the slightest of tension. I don't recommend for use with a pattern with cables. You can't pull the stitches tight enough to prevent gapping holes without the yarn breaking. I think this yarn is best suited for small projects, but definitely not a sweater.

        I've made 2 sweaters from this line of yarn and they have both turned out beautifully: an intricate cable cardigan and a cropped tunic vest. Used needles size 5-7 which requires a longer time to complete garments but looks wonderful. Not for the knitter who wants to knit hastily on size 8 needles and above.

        This yarn is so soft and pliable. It feels like cotton. It glides through your fingers very easily. The way it is woven it does not twist up, which is a great feature. The only downside to this yarn is that it breaks very easily. When I'm attaching a new ball (with the method of the "magic knot), if I pull to tighten it a little too much, it breaks, but otherwise, it fabulous. I'm still working on my piece, a sweater, otherwise I would put a photo of it.

            I have knitted a great aran sweater with this yarn in the steamers color, and am in the process of knitting a dress in the clover oatmeal color. This yarn is soft, light and very warm. It's soft enough for me to wear directly on the skin, though I have knitted with softer yarns. For someone who is very sensitive, it might still feel scratchy. I love the tweed nubs, especially their colors, which are in perfect harmony with the yarn color.

                  Hate, hate, hate this yarn. Had to start a top-down hat over again literally 7 times due to it tearing when I tugged to close the loop at the crown. Looks and feels nice, but it's got no strength or resilience whatsoever. Would never use again even on pain of death.

                    I bought this yarn and knitted a Debbie Bliss 'Shawl collared pullover' in it. I loved it so much I ordered 2 more colors. It was a little scratchy on the recommended needle size, so I went down to a 6. The sweater knitted up dense and warm but very, very attractive! It has a little tweedy look to it which I like.

                      knits up beautifully and quickly. I love the colour I chose - a petrol blue - the tweed effect is subtle and looks great in the cardigan I am knitting with it.The only reason I gave 4 stars instead of 5 is that I haven't yet washed it so cannot say how that will affect the finished garment.
