I knit the Palladio summer pullover as it appeared in the new 2012 summer booklet. I am overall please with the finished sweater. It has nice drape, especially the sleeves. I changed the front neckline to a scoop neck - better for me. At gauge, the finished fabric is a bit see-thru so I may have to wear a cami underneath. The yarn has no stretch at all but ribbing helps the fit.

I purchased 10 skeins of Captiva to make the Berroco pattern "Pern." I was surprised upon receiving it at how mettalic it felt and how slippery it was...would not even stay put in a ball after winding with a ball winder! I was disappointed in my process of knitting with it as it did not form uniform stitches and the stitches stretched quite a bit while knitting unlike wool that has "memory." The pattern chosen is quite nice and would probably look just as attractive if done in a DK yarn such as Silky Wool. I have finally finished this project and am relieved that I will not have to work with this product again! One more note...weaving the ends in is a chore as you have to penetrate the yarn in order for the ends to stay put, otherwise they slip out of position. I definitely would not recommend this yarn!

Comments about Berroco Captiva:
I love the shiny and smooth texture of this yarn. It is wrapped with a lustrous thread that doesn't catch or split easily. It is quite slippery. It doesn't have much stretch since it is primarily cotton, but has a very clear stitch definition. I am using it to knit a baby sweater for warmer weather.

This was for a vest KAL for our knitting group, 1 person has finished and the others want to rip it out. Too expensive to just throw away. I am surprised at Berroco.

Comments about Berroco Captiva:
I selected Captiva specifically for the purpose of creating a garden-style hat worked in hairpin lace. The color used was amethyst. The results were spectacular. The lady for whom it was made told me hers was the best hat at the garden tea event she attended.

Comments about Berroco Captiva:
I think this yarn works best with a hat with wire. I also used it for a Beret that was really nice. I would not use it for a scarf or gloves because it is not a soft yarn.
