I too was hesitant to buy this as it was expensive and I didn't want it included in the UFO (unfinished object) pile that is ever growing in the corner of my closet. I bought it for the Gibson sweater after considering it for a long time. I am so glad that I did! This is like knitting up a cloud. Everyone who sees me working on this remarks about the softness. It does shed, but not too much to make it a misery to knit and wear. I also think that as it is washed, that might subside a little. It is bulky so the project is flying off the needles. I have this in weasel color- terrible name, but beautiful color (beige/gray/cream) . I see another Gibson in my future- maybe in harbor seal. Lovely pattern too!

I was disappointed that each skein of this yarn that I purchased had a knot in it to tie pieces together to complete the skein. Also, it's mostly even thickness to the yarn, but occasionally there's a really really thin part or a really really thick part, making lumps and bumps in the finished fabric.

      Comments about Berroco Kodiak:

This is a great yarn. I bought it along with a very similar but less expensive yarn (Grignasco Tikal) to make a cardigan featured in Vogue Knitting (Fall 2012, Pattern #13) and it knits up well, is super soft, and comes in beautiful colors. Compared to the other yarn, it sheds much, much less, and if I were to repeat the experience, I would do the whole project in Kodiak, despite the increased price.
Note: one or two of the skeins were pretty irregular in thickness.

Light, fluffy and warm, it's very easy to work with and a fast knit. The only drawback is that my lap is full of the shedding fibres.

      Comments about Berroco Kodiak:

Service was, as always, flawless. I bought this yarn for a specific pattern that used this yarn. I most likely would not have otherwise. The hat turned out well I think. Would I think of this yarn first for other projects? No, I don't think so. It's a pretty yarn but can be a bit fussy to work with. I enjoyed it but now I'm over it. Unless I decide to make another hat! I would recommend this yarn for the project I just finished.

      Comments about Berroco Kodiak:

I was reluctant at first to get this yarn because it looked rather flimsy and was expensive, but I was obsessed with the sweater - Gibson from the Norah Gaughan collection, Vol. 13. After trying a few other yarns, I finally broke down and bought this yarn and am I glad I did. The yarn is easy to work with and so soft. The Russian Join method works really well with this yarn.

IT'S SO COLD THIS WINTER. SO I DECIDE TO KNIT A WARM BUT SOFT, LIGHT BIG SCARF FOR MY DAUGHTER. I'M GLAD THAT I FOUND A BEAUTIFUL PATTERN AND THE THIS YARN TO KNIT WITH. THE RESULT -IT'S LIKE A CLOUD AS MY DAUGHTER SAYS. SHE WEARS HER SCARF EVERY DAY. I'M GOING TO KNIT ONE FOR MYSELF ANDMY FRIEND AS MY NEXT PROJECT.

I love working with this yarn. It knits up nicely and is nice for scarves and neckwear as it is so soft against the skin. I will warn others that the online colors are much brighter than the actual color.
