best yarn ever! very soft when treated correctly
from los angeles
This yarn is amazing when you use it correctly . I've knit with it for years. It's unwashed that's why it feels scratchy and may have debris. Once you wash it it will expand . It gets fluffy and super soft . Wash a sample and you will see . This price is wonderful!!!if you can buy it do so.

Debris in natural, Dark is nice.

I purchased the natural and dark grey, which looks black. I was happy with the weight and had very few breaks as I worked with them. The natural is thicker than the dark. I wove a houndstooth pattern and needed to double the dark to balance the weave.
The dark is beautiful, it did have a lot of extra dye come out in the wash, but it did not discolor the natural. The dark is soft and clean, no vegetable matter.
The natural is rough, with lots of picky debris. I tried to remove as much as possible while weaving.
I needed to brush the scarves I made with a wire dog brush to make them feel softer.
I really liked the dark, but the natural is not nice.

I was satisfied with the dark grey so I purchased the cream to ply on my own fine wool, alpaca and angora blend singles. The cream had so much vegetable matter that I do not want to use it. The description should have made a note of this. Disappointed.

Rough and scratchy for a wool/cashmere
from Oakland, CA
I bought this to use with my knitting machine. It was very delicate as a 1 ply, so I ended up having to ue a double strand. I expected a wool/chashmere from loro piana to be a soft and luxurious yarn, but it seeemed to be much more rustic. There were bits of grass/twigs, etc. in it that added to the roughness of the yarn. I wish I knew how much cashmere was in it, because it doesn't seem like much.
Its an okay yarn, just not at all what I expected. Its a good deal on closeout, but I definitely would not have purchased this at the regular price.
