This is one of the nicest yarns I've ever knitted with. The silk and wool combination is luxurious and with a generous 256 yards, it goes a long way. The "ombre" colors are unique resulting in interesting sweater and hat color combinations. It washes well in cool water (although the blues do run a bit). It's wise to order the same lot numbers for each project since the colors do seem to vary. The fiber on mittens (with daily use) do start pilling, but there is no shedding. The yarn is strong and tolerates pulling and tugging but it does have a tendency to split if you have to re-knit or rework stitches. Since it is ombre, the colors can be tricky to match a pair of socks or mittens but for scarves, sweaters or hats this yarn is a real pleasure and a definite treat to work with.
Is the yardage correct?
First, I LOVE this yarn. It is so exciting to knit with because even with a simple pattern, seeing the color change subtly throughout the project is addictive. I know Freia makes a number of handpainted yarns with ombre color schemes and all are beautiful. I personally prefer this yarn because of the wool/silk blend.
I would mention 2 cons for this yarn, but neither will hold me back from using. First, it splits when correcting mistakes. Second, in some of the darker colors, the dye has not saturated the yarn. Sometimes, there are white spots on the outside of the yarn I think it adds to the beauty but you may want to inspect your yarn before beginning a project.
to WEBS - Are you sure the yardage is correct? The only wool/silk combination I have found is called 'Refined' and it is 165 yards in the worsted size.
