    St-Denis Sommet

St-Denis Sommet yarn is a luxuriously soft, 100% alpaca, 3 ply yarn that knits up from a fingering to sport weight. Designed to complement St-Denis' Nordique and Boreale wool yarns, you can substitute Sommet for Nordique when you want extra softness and drape. Or work a strand of Sommet with a strand of either wool yarn for drapey projects with added stability. In bold brights and neutrals, Sommet is perfect for garments and accessories. Made in Peru.

      Comments about St-Denis Sommet:

I love the feel of this yarn as it glides on my needles and through my fingers. The colors are great. Because it is 100% baby alpaca, i don't think it would be appropriate to use where consistent shape is important. It does stretch.

      Service and delivery comments:

      Super prompt service. Bravo!

      Comments about St-Denis Sommet:

I was planning to knit a sweater, and ordered 10 skeins. I was kind of surprised though when I received them. They were a lot smaller than they look online, and thinner. So it does not move as fast as I imagined. I may need to purchase more because this looks like enough for back and forth only, hardly.
Also color was a little different. I thought this was a vibrant full red. It is still a nice tone but cooler, and pinkish.

        Comments about St-Denis Sommet:

I think that this yarn is just lovely! Even though it is Alpaca, the ply keeps the yarn from being limp. And it doesn't shed too much-which can be an issue with Alpaca. I think this is one of the nicest Alpaca yarns I have knit with. Has nice stitch definition. I have ripped back a few times when designing with it and it has held up really well. It is very soft as well. Highly recomend this yarn.

        Service and delivery comments:

Service and delivery is always fantastic with Webs. I am an international customer(Canada) and have always had my yarn delivered within 7-10 days. Great to deal with. Highly recommend.

I'm using size 3 needles and am very pleased with the drape and softness of my knitting. Just a little shedding. Great price, nice color selection.

I crocheted a cape with this yarn. Worked up great, very soft. Lovely color.

                Comments about St-Denis Sommet:

Generally, I am not an alpaca fan. While I love the softness, I don't like the long guard hairs and shedding characteristic of alpaca. Webs had Sommet on sale, so I took a chance and I am really sold on it! No long guard hairs and sheds only a little, which I consider a more than acceptable tradeoff for the luxury and softness. I have made one cowl and have ordered several more colors for shawls, scarves. Great stitch definition too. It's a winner girls!

I loved knitting with this yarn - I can't wait to get more! I made my first pair of fingerless gloves with this. Easy to work, incredibly soft, and I didn't notice any splitting or anything.
