Swans Island Spruce Head Hat PDF

Spruce Head is one of many traditional, small villages that dot the coastline of Maine. Overlooking Seal Harbor, daily life here is defined by Fishermen’s nets and lobster traps – sturdy working tools that intertwine the present with the past. The crisp latticework cable that traverses this hat is reminiscent of these simple implements of daily life along the coast.

Comments about Swans Island Spruce Head Hat PDF:

While the picture clearly shows a latticework cable with an over-and-under pattern, the instructions as followed produce only right-over-left cables, which, when repeated around the hat, look odd and un-woven. I'm quite annoyed about this. The pattern is otherwise straightforward and it would have been easy for the designer to write instructions for alternating left-over-right and right-over-left crosses. If I were a more advanced knitter, or had realized the problem in advanced, I could do it myself. As it is, I'm out $5 for the pattern and I have a hat I really don't like, in a precious yarn I'd been saving. Will probably rip it out. Very annoying.
