Comments about Ashland Bay Merino/Tussah Silk:
I purchased this to spin in the 2012 Tour De Fleece. Not a fiber for a beginner, but offers a bit of a challenge and some fun surprises for the intermediate spinner. The colors spin up very subtly compared to the top -and has some decent size schlubbs in it that add visual interest to the yarn itself. Drafts nicely but can be a bit tricky to spin-but when spun and plied you get a buttery soft and subtly shiny yarn that has quite a bit of jewel like color that make this yarn just sparkle. The finished yarn has a lovely drape to it-perfect for shawls or a lovely fashion sweater.
Comments about Ashland Bay Merino/Tussah Silk:
So soft, so shiny, so buttery. And an unbelievable good price. I love this fiber and will absolutely be spinning with it again and frequently. My only complaint is that I ordered the red color and it very purple, even in the fiber. And once it was spun it was absolutely purple with a hint of reddish to it. Don't get me wrong, it's beautiful and I'm happy. But if I had been looking strongly for red I would have been disappointed. So choose color with a grain of salt.
