Dyed Wool
Ashland Bay Multi-Colored Merino Top
Ashland Bay Multi-Colored Merino Top is 100% merino wool, dyed in brilliant colors and blended together into colorways that reflect multiple shades from the smooth-drafting roving. Spinners prize merino wool for creating amazingly springy yarns. Soft, lofty and highly crimped, merino wool is ideal for all kinds of projects, providing an exceptionally fine surface in wet and needle felted projects, high elasticity in garments and next-to-skin softness.

Comments about Ashland Bay Multi-Colored Merino Top:
I purchased this wool to use in thrummed mittens, and it's just wonderful. Warm, fluffy, and soft to the touch - my new mittens are not itchy at all. The only problem is that fondling this wool makes me want to learn to spin, and I simply don't have time or space for that LOL.

Comments about Ashland Bay Multi-Colored Merino Top:
Ordered two different colors to ply with solid colors I already had. Actual colors were much darker than they appeared on the website. Disappointed that they are so dark, but will probably still work. Haven't spun it yet but expect it to spin well.

I was greatly disappointed to find that Webs shortchanged me nearly 2 oz.! Normally I wouldn't weigh my fiber, but I will now. Customer service did send me the difference.

My goal with spinning is to create knitting yarn for hats, fingerless gloves, leg warmers, cowls, scarves, and throws. This top works perfectly for this.

Comments about Ashland Bay Multi-Colored Merino Top:
I'm very new to spinning (top whorl drop spindle), but this wool is really easy to work with. Needs very little to no pre-draft, and I'm being able to spin it to a very fine 2-ply lace. The colours blend so the final yarn is a more subdued shade than the roving looks originally.

Comments about Ashland Bay Multi-Colored Merino Top:
This is the first wool roving I've bought and spun. I'm spinning it on a home-made drop spindle (my first time...) and it's so soft and easy to work with! The colors are beautiful, too!
