I was able to figure out the assembly (no instructions) without too much difficulty.
The finishing of the wood is a bit rough so I plan to sand it down so "sticky" yarn does not snag.
I really like this device for winding multiple skeins of hand-painted yarn all in the same orientation. I just load multiples on the device and wind them into a ball one at a time.

My husband bought me a squirrel swift and I use it constantly. My umbrella swift sits in a corner. This never overbalances and works beautifully
