This item is not just for weavers. It's for anyone who works with yarn in any capacity and needs to measure it (knitters, crocheters, spinners). I use it with my yarn on my umbrella swift and winding it onto a ball winder. I set it between the two and get incredibly accurate yardage counts.

It works for any kind of yarn, string or ribbon, but is particularly excellent for handspun yarn, which other yardage counters are not always good at. It works for anything thick and thin or of variable thickness.
