Valley Yarns 8/2 Cotton
8/2 Cotton. As mill end yarns become less and less available, we have recognized the need to replace them with additional Permanent Lines yarns. I used this yarn in a majority of the items I make to sell, including baby bibs, baby blankets, kitchen towels, placemats...I also use this yarn for my wall pieces that I sometimes dye or paint...in all cases the yarn is just right! As used in functional items they are easy to care for, just machine wash and dry. In the wall pieces where I paint or dye it also works beautifully!!
My only complaint...is many times yarn is on back order!!!! and many times it takes quite awhile to get it!!! As someone who gets orders for items from various galleries and shops I need to have yarn readily available to me!! I now try and order plenty to have on hand, but that is not always feasible.

I used this yarn to make 10 yds of handwoven fabric. There were numerous breaks in the threads that had been retied on the cone. Some came untied during the weaving process which was disappointing. I was making this as a gift for someone else, so the knots were very discouraging to find.
The final fabric was nice though.

Comments about Valley Yarns 8/2 Cotton:
I generally weave with the various yarns, and have always been pleased with the product.
The service is good, and if I call sometimes instead of using the internet (usually because I have a question) I have found the staff to be both friendly and helpful.

Comments about Valley Yarns 8/2 Cotton:
I was dismayed to find so many knots in the first cone as I wound my warp.
Halfway through the cone, the knots started showing up and I had to unwind, cut them out, rewind, etc. I have never seen so many knots in one half of a pound cone. I ordered 8 cones of this cotton and am hoping that they are not all the same way.

Comments about Valley Yarns 8/2 Cotton:
Very good color range, lovely feel and drape.
Seems a bit lighter weight than older "true" 8/2.
Still nice after repeated washings.

Comments about Valley Yarns 8/2 Cotton:
This yarn knits well for an un-mercerized cotton on my standard gauge machine. The yarn is soft and fun to work with.

Comments about Valley Yarns 8/2 Cotton:
This yarn is great for towels; since I don't use it for any other craft, I can't address that. However, on the loom, it works like it should!

Comments about Valley Yarns 8/2 Cotton:
I'm working my way up to 20/2. I started with mop cotton and rags, weaving rugs, worked my way through 3/2 perle cotton in place mats and am now working on 5/2 cotton towels and dishcloths. Next will be 8/2 kitchen towels and I've lined up all the pretty colors to view as inspiration. After that comes 10/2 and 20/2. So far, so good.

Fast delivery. Best about delivery---each cone individually wrapped. No soiling. Great idea! Everyone else sells these "naked"

Comments about Valley Yarns 8/2 Cotton:
I use a 12 dent reed, putting 2 threads per dent, 22 inches wide, by 31 inches long, for a nice tightly woven towel, which shrinks to about 20" by 28" after washing and hemmning. I sell more unmercerized cotton towels than any other weaving item. Can't go wrong with this stuff!
