Intrigued by the colors, I purchased some Lauca to knit a cowl for my niece. I enjoyed knitting with it so much that I purchased more yarn for a wrap for my sister. I loved the way it worked with the lace pattern, so I ordered even more Lauca for myself. I guess you could say I'm a fan of this yarn!

The online photo makes Lauca look rustic, if not a little coarse, but it is soft with a lovely hand and good weight. It is a good quality yarn, comfortably warm with beautiful colors. Addi Turbo needles made for quick knitting but very slick and easy to drop stitches - I switched to wooden needles which helped immensely.

I think Lauca would make an attractive sweater or blanket, too. It certainly exceeded my expectations and I am very pleased with the results!

This yarn knit up into a lovely hat. The definition was good and there was little stretching or mis-shaping. For the price, can't be beat.

I'm making a vest with this yarn. The striping is working up nicely, I love the colors. It has nice body and structure, but is not itchy. Might not be soft enough for directly against skin, but over a shirt should be fine.

                    Comments about Araucania Lauca:

I'm very sad that this yarn is being discontinued. It's really one of my favorites. It's listed as worsted weight but I think it's alittle heavier. It's reasonably soft and the colors are beautiful. It's self striping but when done in seed st, it's a totally different look-sort of tweedy. I'm tempted to stock up even more before it's totally gone. The combination of wool, silk and camel is a real winner.

I would like to add this to my previous review. This yarn done up in stockinette stitch creates the typical striping affect but done in seed st. has an entirely different look and is really beautiful in my opinion. It's more of a tweedy affect.
